YoyoTech Warbird RS5 review: Intel Pentium Anniversary Edition
In this system, the Intel Pentium Anniversary Edition has been boosted in speed to 4.6GHz – the fastest overclock we’ve seen with this chip, if only by 100MHz. However the measured performance results were a mixed bag, with the slowest PCMark 7 Overall score we’ve seen on an Intel Pentium Anniversary Edition PC, and a frankly rubbish PCMark 7 Entertainment score showing up alongside superb PCMark 7 Lightweight and Creativity scores. Sadly, the supplied CPU cooler wasn’t able to keep the processor temperature below 99 degrees Celsius, leading us to wonder whether the overclock to 4.6GHz might have been a little overambitious. This could have implications for the long-term health of your PC. Storage results were the best best we’ve seen in our recent batch of budget gaming PCs, thanks to the inclusion of a separate 120GB SSD installed along with the 1TB hard drive. This helps deliver super-fast boot speed and greatly reduced game load times, but only if you install your game collection on the SSD. You’ll have to manage your storage carefully to ensure you can fit your most important games and applications on the faster drive.

Having blown a portion of the budget on an SSD, there’s enough money left for a GeForce GTX 750 TI, but not the faster GeForce GTX 760 found in other systems. So, despite the fastest processor and that SSD, the Warbird RS5 can’t match the raw gaming performance of other PCs at the same price level. Neither does it use an Intel Z97 Express chipset like the other PCs with GTX 750 TIs. If you spend a considerable amount of time doing non-gaming things with your PC, then you’ll certainly notice the benefits of the SSD. It’s also very well put together, offering superb build quality and great features but these are PCs designed for all-out gaming at the lowest possible price and in that respect the Warbird RS5 fails to deliver. Also included is a 23.6in AOC E2470SWDA monitor, which is a basic TN-based display with a reasonably fast 5ms response time, but lacking an HDMI port for hooking up external devices. A Gigabyte HM6150 wired keyboard and mouse combo is included. The mouse supports an 800 dpi resolution, but neither of these devices could be described as gaming peripherals.
